Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminI came to Homestyle Midwifery only a few weeks before my baby was due. I noticed right away that the midwives were so calm and centered, much different from where I had been. I felt like I could exhale and breathe. I knew I was in the right place. . And when it came time to deliver my baby, I was free to do what I needed to do in order to make myself comfortable. I felt so safe and free. The nurses at St. Luke’s were so attentive and very sweet. I had the best care the entire time. The strength, knowledge and love that these Homestyle Midwifery midwives have in their hearts are incredible.

Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminUpon meeting the Homestyle Midwives my partner and I knew we were with people who understood our desires for a peaceful, natural birth with the least amount of interventions. On my first prenatal visit I knew our experience was going to be one of connection and respect, which I knew was going to be essential in my trust of the birthing process. I began to develop a confidence in myself and know that I was having a wonderful pregnancy and would have the birth I desired, regardless of the precision of my birth plan. My fears of a hospital birth (I have a serious hospital anxiety) subsided after many appointments The care at St. Luke’s hospital Labor and Delivery was very personalized. Our nurse listened to our desires on what we did and did not want done to our new baby This bonding time was incredible, as my new little miracle laid in my arms looking around at his new world; completely peaceful and aware at the same time. Knowing that I was receiving excellent medical care at the hand of my midwife was important but what touched me the most was always feeling listened to and loved! It is the best of both worlds, a natural home-like birth within a hospital equipped to assist should any emergency arise.

Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminHomestyle rises like a phoenix way above anybody else when it comes to pregnancy, birth and post partum care. Expertise coupled with loving arms which take care of all aspects of pregnancy, birthing and beyond. I feel truly fortunate to have been in Homestyle's care for the birth of my son. Their approach, knowledge, dedication, affection and presence took the fear out of childbirth, I felt very nurtured, listened to, understood and respected and could not have wished for a better experience.

Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminI came to Homestyle midwifery because I wanted to have a birth as close to a homebirth as possible- but in a hospital, just in case something would happen to the baby. From the first moment I felt very comfortable, you took your time to get to know me I loved the calmness every time I came to a visit or you came to our home. I felt very, very supported all the time, which made me feel self-aware and powerful. You gave me strength to trust my body so I wasn't scared to give birth at all. I had a wonderful birth experience. The way you combine professional care with love, warmth and understanding is outstanding And the chance to meet other parents in the birth group to build a community was/is great, too.

Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminWhen I first started thinking about where we’d have our baby, I had a few very strong requirements: I wanted to labor at home for as long as possible; I wanted our birthing place to be comfortable; I wanted my pregnancy and birth to be treated like the natural event it was and not like an illness; and I wanted to know the person who would be catching our baby. All of these wishes were met when we joined Homestyle Midwifery at St. Luke’s. My husband and I were elated with and grateful for the professional and compassionate prenatal care we received. We found the group meetings supportive and warm, which helped the anxiety we felt as expectant parents. And most important, our midwife created a medically safe, yet nurturing and non-clinical environment, to finally greet our baby. She was our guide and our advocate, and helped give us the strength required do the work of giving birth. We feel incredibly lucky to have found Homestyle Midwifery. And the highest compliment we can give is – we’d love for them to deliver our next baby!

Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminThank you for the great care I received. I am so glad that I found you in time to take care of me prenatally and deliver my healthy son. I have said it a thousand times and I will say it again, I CAN'T believe that care of this calibur exists. I feel truly blessed to have had access to such wonderful, knowledgable and caring midwives both to look after me and to usher my baby into this world. The commute from Berkeley to San Francisco was nothing and I would travel anywhere to have such exemplary care. Keep up the good work!

Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminOur experience with Homestyle Midwifery has wonderfully carried on into our present lifestyle. The group gatherings we had with fellow expectant parents
helped create strong connections with not only our midwives, but with each other. My son and I meet with our fellow "February due" moms and babies weekly. This cohesive group was made possible by the excellent networking and structure that Homestyle midwivesprovide. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminNothing but greatness came out of my experience with Homestyle Midwifery, and the Nursing staff at St. Lukes, as well. I felt so cared for, so respected, in such good hands, before, during, and after labor and delivery, even to this week, 9 months post birth, with help regarding a plugged duct! The home visits are the best idea since sliced bread! That has been an immensely beneficial aspect to their service since day one, and I would encourage pediatricians to join in that service. My husband's quote is, " They made the childbirth experience a very easy and enjoyable one, and that is not easy to do!" ;-) The seamlessness of which Homestyle and ST. Lukes nursing staff worked together was such a delight. As the mother in this experience, I can honestly say that not only did I not have any doubts about their service, but they helped me have more faith in my own ability to birth. I have absolutely no room and no time to possibly say everything I would want to say right now. Homestyle Midwifery needs to exist, needs to thrive, needs to be available to as many families as possible, and I am happy to be of service in spreading the word. As a Mom who had a second birth with them, but my first without them, I can honestly say that I am moved to tears when i think about how different my two births were, and I just THANK GOD I found them, and had them by my side! Cynthia, Yeshi and Olivia were of utmost professionalism, competency and in the moment know-how that I could have ever hoped for. Cynthia in particular was so helpful, as my main midwife, so focused, so in the trenches, I am eternally indebted, and I can't wait to tell Layla, my daughter, her birth story! I love you!!!!!

Posted June 26th, 2007 by adminI loved Homestyle because they sat down with me with everyone present who would be present at the birth and asked me how i wanted it to go. I had no clue but it made me have to think about it. It was very emotional and hard just to focus on ME and the experience I was about to endure. They paid attention. I had no idea how uncomfortable that would be for and yet how healing.

Posted August 1st, 2007 by matthewCynthia and Yeshi-
thank you so much for being there for us through the thick and thin of my pregnancy,
birth, and recovery. it was a challenging pregnancy, and i'm happy that i
had you there to help me deal with all of the issues that came up with my
preterm labor, and lengthy bedrest. the birth was crazy fast, and while i
had done it before, it couldn't have been less surprising. thank you cynthia
for coming in on your day off to help me birth oliver. i
loved you when you were there for me when nathaniel was born, and i loved
you there with us for oliver's birth. i know that his birth was challenging
and complicated, but you were a calm in the storm providing the strength
that was so needed. thank you both for being there with us to sort through
all of the medical issues that came up after his birth, i feel like we were
put through the ringer, but we now have a healthy, strong little boy who
we love to no end. thank you also for your patience with allowing nathaniel
to be part of the birth team. it was so important to us to have our little
boy there, and we were so proud to see his strength and courage while watching
his brother get born. it was nice to see that a 3 year old boy could watch
his brother being born and accept it as if it was a daily occurrence. you
helped to make the whole event a normal, natural, and low key thing. i don't
think that i could ever forget!
